"The Braid"
Sublime, it brings dexterity and agility
In Maya culture, hair is held to be a very important element of ethnic identity and culture. It is tied directly to beauty, to power, and even to the rank or the circumstances of an individual. As in other cultures, cutting one's hair was a mark of dishonor.
To dress their hair, men braided it and wound it around the head like a crown, letting the excess fall at the back. Women divided their long hair into two parts to braid it, adding an ornament as a distinguishing feature.
Entirely handcrafted through every stage of the manufacturing process.
All ZÄK Jewels are crafted in certified solid .950 silver, a purer silver alloy than the more common .925 sterling silver.
Because every piece is handmade, each creation is unique. Slight variations from the photographs may occur, reflecting the authenticity of traditional craftsmanship.
